ElastAbrasion

How are specimens created for ElastAbrasion?

The specimens for ElastAbrasion are created using the specially designed cutter, available from James Heal.

  • Using the lever arm, a sharp blade cuts through the sheet of rubber, resulting in a strip of rubber 15±0.2mm wide.

The width can be adjusted by altering the backstop.

  • The new strip of rubber is then inserted into the support slot created by the moveable guides, and pressed firmly against the backstop.

Again, using the lever arm, the blade cuts through the strip and creates a square 15±0.2mm X 15±0.2mm.

The dimensions should be checked using a caliper.
