Seam Slippage - The Correct Mounting of 2-part Specimens

UNSEAMED SPECIMEN

  • Ensure the 25 mm x 25 mm Jaw Faces are fitted to both top and bottom grips.
  • Align the 38 mm mark with the edge of the top 25 mm x 25 mm Jaw Faces.
  • Close the top grip.
  • To permit the specimen to be slack mounted it must not be in contact with the body of the Grip. It should be suspended and hanging under its own weight only.
  • DO NOT pull the specimen or pretension it in any way.
  • Close the bottom grip.

UNSEAMED (SEWN) SPECIMEN

  • Align the 38 mm mark with the edge of the top 25 mm x 25 mm Jaw Faces.
  • Close the top grip.
  • To permit the specimen to be slack mounted it must not be in contact with the body of the Grip. It should be suspended and hanging under its own weight only.
  • DO NOT pull the specimen or pretension it in any way.
  • Close the bottom grip.
